What do I do if I need to cancel my appointment?
We do have a 48 hour cancellation policy to cancel any assessments or appointments. In the case of illness, please inform your clinician before 8 am on the day of your appointment. In order to cancel your appointment please contact your clinician directly by email, or contact the main office by phone 613-680-1780 or email info@achievetherapycentre.com.
My child is on the waitlist, what are the next steps?
Once an appointment spot becomes available for your child our office will contact you by phone and email with the available appointment spot(s). The appointment spot will be for the initial assessment and any subsequent therapy sessions. Appointment spots are on a weekly or biweekly schedule.
What should I expect at the initial assessment?
At the initial assessment the clinician will perform an assessment of the areas of concern that you have mentioned in the intake. After this assessment the clinician will provide you with the results and discuss a therapy plan.
Do you have parking at your location?
Yes, we have paid parking at our location. The fee is $2 per visit. You will need a credit card to access the parking lot. Please stop by the front desk before you leave to receive a parking voucher. There is also limited free street parking available on weekdays after 5:30 pm, and on weekends.
Can I (the parent or caregiver) be present in the assessment or sessions?
Yes, parents and caregivers are welcome to attend assessments and therapy sessions.
What payment methods do you accept?
Payments can be made at the end of the session using debit, cash (exact change), cheque, or e-transfer but we do require that a valid credit card be kept on file to avoid outstanding balances. If other payment is not made, the credit card will be charged at the end of the business day. A receipt will be issued from our online medical system. To arrange payment of an invoice, or for questions related to billing please contact the office.
Do you offer direct billing to insurance?
No, we do not offer direct billing to insurance. However, we will provide you with a paid invoice that can be submitted to your insurance provider.
Are your services covered by insurance?
Speech-Language Pathology and Occupational Therapy are often covered by insurance. For information on whether or not your provider will cover our services we always recommend that you contact them directly as plans do vary.
Do I need a referral to access your services?
No, you do not need a referral to access Speech-Language Pathology and Occupational Therapy services. However some insurance companies do require a referral in order for services to be covered. Check with your insurance provider if they require a doctor’s referral.
Why can’t I find pricing information on your website?
For specific pricing information, please contact our office directly. The price of assessments and therapy sessions varies depending on the type of services required. We are happy to provide you with a quote for our services.
Do you offer in-home services?
All of our services are offered in the clinic or virtually (if appropriate).
What is a Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA)?
Communicative Disorders Assistants (CDA) work together with Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP) to implement speech therapy. After an initial assessment is conducted by the overseeing SLP, the CDA will execute regular therapy sessions. The CDA and SLP will meet regularly to adjust therapy goals, and the SLP will perform regular informal reassessments as needed (every 2-3 months). A CDA may also support the work of an Occupational Therapist.
What is an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA)?
Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTA) work together with Occupational Therapists (OT) to implement occupational therapy. After an initial assessment is conducted by the overseeing OT, the OTA will execute regular therapy sessions. The OTA and OT will meet regularly to adjust therapy goals, and the OT will perform regular informal reassessments as needed (every 2-3 months). An OTA may also support the work of a Speech Language Pathologist.
How long are therapy sessions?
Therapy sessions, including assessment sessions, are usually 1 hour and include 45-50 minutes of direct therapy time. The remaining 10-15 minutes are used to go over what was completed in session as well as discuss any at home work. It is also used for scheduling and charting. In addition, we offer 45 and 30 minute virtual appointments if appropriate to the client and area of concern.
How many therapy sessions are required?
The amount of sessions required to address your concerns varies depending on the area of concern as well as the unique needs of your child. Once an initial assessment is completed your clinician will propose a therapy plan including the length of treatment (for example 10 or 20 sessions). After these sessions are complete the clinician will informally reassess the client and determine if further interventions are required.
